In January 2009 I took a TESOL EVO session on Language Learning in Virtual Worlds. I wanted to try something completely out of my comfort zone in my never-ending quest to remember what it feels like to be a beginner. I certainly got the lost-newbie-in-a-strange-land feeling. I also discovered a world of amazing possibilities for distance learning.

During the TESOL EVO VWLL session, I did a practice lesson with teachers from Japan, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Just in case you’re interested in seeing how a lesson might look in a virtual world I’m including links to our planning, evaluation, and video. This is just one way a team teaching lesson might look–Second Life teachers, and techniques are as varied as you’d expect in any classroom.
